It probably took me longer than anyone else in the
history of missionary service to decide that I was going on a mission. I had
never been one of those girls that couldn’t wait to be 19, so that I could
serve a mission. I had been planning my future since before I can remember and
a mission just wasn’t in the cards… or
so I thought! After I graduated I moved to Logan, Utah and attended Utah State
University. I loved living in Logan, attending classes and institute and
working; I couldn’t have asked for anything more! Eventually it became evident
that “because I have been given much I too must give”. And although I was a
little resistant to the idea at first, it didn’t take long before I experienced
a change of heart and the only thing that I wanted to do was serve a mission.
Finally, after a few minor setbacks my papers were submitted and I received my
mission call on September 8, 2015 to the Italy Rome Mission.
When I turned my call over and began to read I saw my mission assignment out of
the corner of my eye. I immediately began to do this laugh/cry thing. I just
didn’t know how to express what I was feeling. All I had prayed for was that I
would have the opportunity to learn another language and that when I opened my
call I would have a reassurance that I had been divinely called to serve in
that place and that I would love the people there. I feel so blessed (and spoiled to be
honest!) I am so grateful and excited and couldn’t be happier to be serving a
mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Get to know Sorella Hatfield
Hi I'm Jordan Hatfield
I'm an Idaho girl who loves to
laugh! I'm a student, CNA, and future missionary called to the Italy Rome
Mission! I'm a Mormon!
About
Me
I grew up in Idaho
as the oldest of four kids! I am the biggest fan of two younger brothers who
have shared their love for football and baseball with me and a little sister
with the biggest smile and best dance moves. My dad is the greatest man I know
and I live for the late night 80's music jam sessions with him. My mom is my
greatest example of love and all of my cooking knowledge comes directly from
her! Now I live in Logan, Utah where I'm a sophomore at Utah State University.
I've always had a curiosity for the medical field and a love for nursing, but
have recently discovered a passion for interior design... so like many students
I don't know what exactly I want to study! I love the outdoors in the spring,
summer, and fall and the indoors in the winter! I'm an avid traveller and love
meeting new people, learning about their cultures, and trying to speak their
language! Most of all I love my family, friends, Savior Jesus Christ, Heavenly
Father, and the Gospel!
Why I Am a Mormon
I am a Mormon because I choose to be! I
strive everyday to pray to my Heavenly Father to strengthen my relationship
with Him so that He can guide my life not only for my own well being, but for
the well being of those around me that I love. The gospel of Jesus Christ gives
me peace in the moment and hope for the future. I know that I can be with my
family for eternity and what greater blessing is there than that?! I know that
through the Atonement of Jesus Christ, our Savior, we can be redeemed and live
in His presence and the presence of loving Heavenly Parents. I know that Christ
lives and that He loves us and wants nothing more than for us to choose to
follow the example that He has set for us. The gospel of Jesus Christ is true
and was restored by the Prophet Joseph Smith in the latter-days. I have a
testimony that the Book of Mormon is the word of God and that we continue to
receive the word of God today through a living prophet Thomas S. Monson. I am a
Mormon because I know that there is more to life than just enjoying the experiences
we have, but that everything this world has to offer relates back to Jesus
Christ and has an eternal purpose. I'm a Mormon. I know it. I live it. I LOVE
it.
How I Live My Faith
I
currently serve in my Young Single Adult ward as a visiting teacher! I love the
girls I go visit every month and enjoy teaching them, but also learning from
their sweet spirits! We really are daughters of a loving Heavenly Father and I
feel that when I am privileged to serve His daughters and my sisters. In past
years I served in Family History, which holds a big piece of my heart! There is
nothing more rewarding than finding lost loved ones and reuniting them with
their families for eternity through baptism and temple ordinances. I am
preparing to serve as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day
Saints in the Italy Rome Mission. (27 days to go!)
Check it Out… Really!!
